Service Opportunity
Dunwoody Arts Festival Returns May 7-9 ... You Can Still Volunteer

Thanks so much to all of you who have already signed up to be part of this signature community event. While artists display their creations, we have a great opportunity to put the Rotary Club of Dunwoody on display - through our support for artist set-up and break-down and our booth on the busy Arts Festival trail through Dunwoody Village.

At this writing, most slots are filled but we can always use more volunteers. Contact Kathy Brandt at 404-797-0705 or by email at kgbrandt1@comcast.net

Opportunity to Learn
Empowering Girls Webinar May 5, 11 am EDT

Editor's Note: I have signed up for this Zoom Webinar next Thursday and while I'm sure most of you received an email invite from our Rotary Zone 34, wanted to repeat the invite here.

Rotarians around the world, join Zones 33/34 for a thought-provoking series to #EmpowerGirlsNow.

When: Thursday, May 5, 2022 at 11:00 am - 12:15 pm EDT

Where: Zoom Webinar -- Register by clicking https://rotaryshares.org/clubsempowergirls

Who: Rotarians and Guests will hear about 3 Clubs making a real difference in the lives of girls. Our first speaker will be Kay Williamson, Founder and Director of Wrap Around, Rotary Club of Meriwether County as she talks about Period Poverty. Next, Dan Quinn, Founder of All Study Steps Tutoring, as he shares the amazing work of a group of 8 rotary clubs in Greensboro, NC that support educational efforts for children in extreme poverty. Their project partners with an onsite group in Vietnam, childrenofvietnam.org, to help girls get their education and graduate from high school. Our last speaker is John Hewko, General Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of Rotary International and The Rotary Foundation who will share details on how girls in Ukraine are being supported.

Why:
Equality is a fundamental human right that’s necessary for a peaceful, prosperous, and sustainable world. Still, girls and women worldwide face inequities in areas including health and education, and they experience violence and poverty at higher rates than men.

What you will walk away with:
Inspiration and Ideas for Club projects that will support Empowering Girls.

Empowering girls aligns with Rotary’s areas of focus and the goals of our Action Plan. See details on that here:  https://my.rotary.org/en/news-media/office-president/presidential-initiatives.   Read the Global Gender Gap Report here wef.ch/gendergap21.

We can increase our impact through projects that protect, empower, and create equity for girls. Join us to offer more opportunities for girls to elevate their voices and articulate their views, ideas, and opinions.

For more information on Empowering Girls Initiatives, please join us! In Zones 33/34, reach out directly to Tina Fischlin, iPDG District 6910, Empowering Girls Ambassador Zone 34, rotarytina@gmail.com or

Dawn Rochelle, iPDG District 7730, Empowering Girls Ambassador Zone 33, dawnrochelle.rotary7730dg@gmail.com

Yours in Rotary Service,

Zones 33/34 Empowering Girls Team
